Good Day!

Please help me regarding the computation of SIF for 45deg WYE fittings (or Perfect Y-connection). Can I use the formula indicated in ASME B31.3 for SIF- Tee?

Thank you in advance.

Dear Marchie, you didn't mentioned the size of pipe and branch in your query. Moreover,It depends on the client requirement.

But in general, 45° branch connection SIF should be calculated using FE tools.

Any other view experts?

Dear Mr. Patel,

The size of the line is 1". Unfortunately I do not have FE Tools installed in my workplace. Maybe you can give me other reference or good assumption for SIF calculation for 1"-45deg Y-piece. Thank you for the advice.

P.S.: Are you Mr. Patel from L&TC? Because I had remotely work with a person with the same name as yours.

Dear Marchie,
You can go ahead by using UNREINFORCED TEE connection in CAESAR model if the branch and main run pipe have 1" size.

And yes, I am from L&TC. You might have worked with me in NSR project.

Thanks
