Hello everyone.

I am doing stress analysis of piping connected to coker drum. I have four(4) coker drums with 16 thermal cases as per coking/decoking schedule. We can only input nine(9) thermal cases in Caesar II and the design of the spring will vary if I made another separate files. I appreciate any advise on how to minimize thermal cases, etc. from those have experience doing this analysis.Thank you in advance.

Are you designing the springs based on all 16 thermal cases (max load, max travel, average, etc.)? If you're designing the springs for the hottest case, then take the design CAESAR II recommends and pre-specify the springs for both input files.

Mr. Richard,

Yes. I will design the spring based on all 16 thermal cases. I need to select the most appropriate spring design that can accomodate all these cases. Your advise is my only option right now. Thank you.

Regards,
Ron
