Hello members,

I am pretty new for the PV designing, Please let me know your solutions even if my queries looks amateurish..

Here are some of the following errors has been encountered while deisgning the vessel in PV elite.

Material: SA 516 Gr.60 Normalized
Design internal pressure: 86.18 bar
Design temperature: 93 degree Celsius.
MDMT required: - 29 degree Celsius

1. For the above, i am getting the thickness of nearly 110 mm for both shell and dish for a horizontal vessel. PV elite output shows, MDMT cannot be calculated for thickness greater than 100mm. BUT as per UCS-66 chart, there is a provision to calculate MDMT upto 145 mm. am i right???

2. For the same design, some of the nozzles reinforcement pads computed MDMT was higher than the required value (MDMT summary failed). What will be the ultimate solution for this?? should i select any LTCS or SS material??? or any other options in PV elite to choose impact test icon box for the nozzle materials.

3. Also i have chosen the impact test icon box for Shell and dish material instead of normalized, again it shows, MDMT cannot be calculated for thickness greater than 100mm.

and finally as far as i know, whenever the thickness of any part is in higher range while operating in low temperature, its brittleness leads to cracking of the material. Due to that impact test is required if calculated MDMT is higher than Required MDMT. If it so, after imapct test is done, how come we know the that the material can operate in Low temp. (or) what will be the MDMT value after the test is done..

Thanks in advance for your earlier reply.

Hello rajarajan

Could you raise as Service Request(SR) for this question? You can mark it for my attention. I would like to look at your PV Elite file and go through the issues one at a time.
