Shall we consider mill tolerance in trunnion calculation??

1. Kellogg book does not mention.
2. B31.3 only requests pipe wall thickness calc.

I have several calc. excel sheet, but there are many difference.

In my opinion,
stress due to pressure needs to be considered.
stress due to external force (thermal/occasional) not.

In my opinion, mill tolerance should only affect wall thickness calculation.

One more query:

In almost all the trunion calculation available in most of the companies, the allowable for trunion calc is considered as 1.5 Sh.However, as per kellog original paper, the same is 2 Sh for normal operating condition.

Any reason for that?

Handling trunnions is a recurring question on this forum. An alternative to using the Kellogg method is ASME Code Case N-392-3 (Section III, Div 1 Nonmandatory Appendix Y-5000) based on the conservative nuclear code. But the method is tedious to attempt by hand. Here is a spreadsheet I created for applying Code Case N-392-3 using Caesar output:

No warranties, but it is better documented than Kellogg SUBJECT 3810 forms and spreadsheets I have seen.
