I have a doubt on Laterolet SIF.

Recently I have analysed a PSV system whose inlet is connected to a vessel and outlet is connected to Flare header.
Connection type of PSV OUTLET TO FLARE HEADER is Laterolet.
I was instructed that i should enter SIF values manually increasing by 71% at all three pipes. They told me in such cases if i didn't enter in all three of TEE joint, CAESAR will not consider the SIF...?? why it is so??? Is that really true ?? then why in other cases (like weldolet, welding tee,etc.,) we give at only one location of TEE joint...

Is it required to give at all three points??

If you are entering SIF manually then YES, You have enter at 3 locations for all joints like laterolet, weldolet etc...

If you just specify a tee at a particular node, CAESAR II looks for the other two elements and assigns the computed SIF to all three. However, if you manually specify an SIF, CAESAR II can no longer assume that value applies to all connected pipes (i.e. you have different header / branch SIFs because you've applied FEATools).

If you want to manually specify SIFs, you must do so on all elements attached to that specific node.

I need to get one more clarification here.
In CAESAR , Manually entered SIF overwrites the SIF value of specified branch connection like welding tee, Weldolet..etc. Then no need to specify type of the branch type.So it for communication or any technical reason behind this.

Correct me If I am wrong.

Yes you should also specify a tee type. This is so that CAESAR II knows there is a tee there and will internally determine the in-plane and out-of-plane directions. If you don't do this, then CAESAR II will assume the in-plane and out-of-plane directions based on local-x cross global-Y.

My advice: specify a tee type.
