Hello,

Caesar II has nozzle flexibility within the input. Once all of the parameters are filled for an API-650 or WRC-297 nozzle, running the error checker will show the results of the nozzle stiffnesses (P, Mc & Ml).

Would it be innaccurate to then remove the nozzle flex function and use restraints X, Y, Z, RX, RY, RZ with the calculated stiffness values for P, Mc & Ml (radial force, bending moments? The other restraint values would all be left default stiffness (1e12).

When I compare the results between the two options, I usually have lower nozzle loads NOT using the nozzle flex function.

Any opinions?

Thank you,
D

You should end up with the same results. Please open a Support Request on Smart Support and send in the model(s) so we can take a look at this.
