Hi there,

first post and hope not a stupid one smile

I am just now building a model which consists a tank and piping connected to the tank. For me it is the first time I have to consider seismic activity. So far I was modeling the tank and the connection pipe with a dummy rigid and an anchor in the middle of the tank. The dummy rigid is then connected to an anchor which is connected to my piping system.
Picture of the model:

The pipe anchor consists of a stiffness of 9.9996E+005 and a CNode which is connected to the dummy rigid.

Now my question: How can I include the settlements mentioned in this table. Precisely the "Upward vertical displacement relative to support or foundation" of 25 mm
and the "Downward vertical displacement relative to support or foundation" of 13 mm.

Can I model this by giving the CNode at the dummy rigid an Displacement vector of 25 mm in vertical upwards direction and one of 13 mm in vertical downwards direction or do I need to simulate this dynamically? If dynamically how should I model this the best way and if statically how can I do that the best way.

Thank you very much for clarification.
Best Regards,
Mike

Yes, provide displacements on the CNode defined for each restraint that will settle.
This would be a static evaluation.
