Hello Experts,

I need help in Modeling a Multistage centrifugal pump, mounted horizontally. The pump head attaches to the discharge assembly and the pump base attaches to the suction assembly. The suction nozzle is at a distance of 11.23metres from discharge nozzle.
The pump shaft is attached to the skid with 9supports and the skid is anchored to the concrete with anchor bolts.
Attached Pump drawing and foundation layout.
Experts please guide me on how to model and analyze the pump and respective nozzles.

Thanks & Best Regards,
PCJ

Dear PCJ,

If possible, ask pump vendor for nozzle displacement & allowable nozzle loads.

Hi Sharmila,

Thanks for reply i was wondering when i will see reply.
I checked with vendor they gave me allowable(forces) for 4inch side nozzle and end nozzle from API 610 but also said that the pump cannot take any torsional load and hence the moments about the axial axis should be ZERO and moments about other axis should be limited to the moments created by the nozzle forces.

Thanks & Best Regards,
PCJ

Dear PCJ,

It is not impossible to achieve ZERO torsional moments as there will be some forces in FX & FZ direction (perpendicular to axial axis).

So, Vendor has to design the pump nozzle in such a way that there will be some allowable.

Yes, its Impossible to maintain nozzle moments zero with out Expansion Joints.
