The Code Stress Ratio just shows the relationship between:
actual (Code) stress
--------------------- = Code Stress Ratio
allowable stress
So what you really want to do is lower the actual (computed) Code Stress. How you do this depends on the type of failure (over-stress):
1) If you are over-stressed in the Sustained (primary) case, you typically need more supports.
2) If you are over-stressed in the Expansion (secondary) case, you typically need more flexibility.
This sounds like you have a bit of work to do.
