Dear All,

Can i use different load factors f2 when i use UKOOA for my RTRP piping stress analysis. As in code only 0.67 is mentioned.
How can i justify the use of different load factors f2 for different cases like OPE, OCC.

Dear Arajagopal:

For UKOOA, one f2 value is for a whole job. So all load cases of the job are stuck with one f2 value. If you want different f2 for diffrent load cases, all you can do is to create several jobs with the exact same model, except for different f2 values.

If you have choices, ISO 14692 is better FRP code to use. It allows you to use different f2 values for different load cases in a job.

Dear Xiaojun Lu,

Thanks for your reply. My question is basically not how to use different f2 factors in caesar. The design code is UKOOA as per project, so as per UKOOA i have to use f2 = 0.67 as UKOOA does not say anything about using different f2 factors for different load cases like OPE ans OCC. But i want to use different f2 factors like 0.83 for OPE and 0.89 for OCC. How can i justify the use of different f2 factors.

Dear Arajagopal:

According to UKOOA spec:
The f2 value should be agreed between the Principal and relevant approval authority.

In CAESAR II configuration -> FRP Properties -> Exclude F2 from UKOOA bending stress (False/True), please check on-line help for more info.
