Hi,
I am doing analysis for subsea Jumper. I want to workout submerged weight of Jumper.
As a case study I have modelled 10m long pipe 6" sch XXS (pipe density 8027 kg/m3), simply supported. I have worked out weight of pipe & reaction forces on supports in Air. values I get from caesar are matching with hand calculation. (Weight 7.9 kN & support reactions 3.97 kN respectively.)
Now, I have added wave component. Density of sea water considered is 1025 kg/m3.
Can anyone help me with calculation of submerged weight in water for same pipe (10m long 6" Sch XXS)
My way of calculation of submerged weight : Submerged weight will be summation of support end reactions.
After calculating area I am multiplying that figure with desnity. Density calculated as 7002 kg/m3 (ie. 8027-1025). But the answer I get with this approach does not match with hand calculation.
To match with Caesar output I have to reduce the density to 5777 kg/m3.
Now, I am really not sure how to go about this.
can anyone guide me with this?
Thanks in advance.
