Dear Richard / Dave and friends,

As the normal practice, We use the calculated SIFs for 45°pipe to pipe branches since ASME B31.3 has not specified SIFs for this kind of branches. There are two way to do it, one is to input the SIF for three portions of pipe ( header and branch) which frame the branch connection with the type of tee, for example, reinforced pipe to pipe, the second way is to input the all three SIFs but leave the type of Tee blank. We believed that Caesar will just take the calculated SIFs regardless whether this any type of TEE, but recently, one of my colleague found the calculation result is a little different, in realty, the stress at the branch connection with "type of tee" result higher than that without type ("blank"), nevertheless which type of tee. I have tried a calculation, the stress is 221.4 Mpa with type of tee and 208.6Mpa with "blank", so we got a little confused, because the Caesar Manual page 123 of Caesar 6.10,does not say clearly if SIF of branch shall also be modified whether we need leave the type of branches blank o need giving a type, whether is it a bug? Thanks for any help about it.
