Dear Richard / Dave & Dear Friends,

I have some query related to SIF. Please help us to provide your suggestion.

1) USER DEFINED SIF.

- Currently in CAESAR 7.0, there is an option in Configuration set up for User Defined SIF @ Bend.

Allow User's SIF at Bend
Controls the stress intensification factor for bends. Previously this was not permitted, and the code-defined SIF was always used. To override the code’s calculated SIF for bends, select True. The user-defined SIF acts over the entire bend curvature and must be specified at the To end of the bend element. The default setting is False.

- How @ User Defined SIF at TEE ? We are performing FEM analysis,as we have Structural members as supports with Elbows and Straight Pipe, not PIPE Trunion to Elboe and straight pipe,we have developped SIF as per FEM analysis & took approval from client. But to INPUT User defined SIF at TEE (Reinforced TEE) in CAESAR... >>> Can you provide your guidance ?

2) INPUT SPREADSHEET.(Enviornment Module)

- After input SIF user defined at BEND all 3 Points, CAESAR still not showing USER DEFINED SIF in "Environment" Module, to review the SIF at Bend.

-Do we need to configure some option or is it BUG in CAESAR ?

_ By reviewing in Enviornment Module, CAESAR shows the DEFAULT values.

-I had already click "TRUE" in Configure set up for "General Setting / Allow user's SIF at bend. ===> TRUE.

- CAESAR OUTPUT shows the User defined values of SIF ,but Environment Module not shows that values.

Awaiting your reply.

Regards
SND

Yes, you set that Configuration Directive to "True". Then you can define the SIF on the "SIF & Tee" dialog. You define an SIF on any node using this dialog. The reason for the Configuration Directive is that (usually) you're overriding a "Code Defined" value, so this acts as a check - it makes you think about what you're doing.

Correct, that scratchpad shows the "Code" computed values only. Your specified value will be shown in the output.

This is not a bug. The scratchpad allows you to alter data and recompute an SIF. The scratchpad doesn't care about any SIF you specified.
