Hi:

I am need some understanding of the extreme displacement stress range. If B31.3 requires you to evaluate the largest displacement stress range (per para 319.2.3), then why is this load case not a recommended /default load case by CAESAR II ? Is the max displacement stress range load case mandatory or not ? Also I would like to confirm: Is the max displacement stress range used to calculate the stress reduction factor "f" which subsequently affects the expansion stress allowable SA? Does that mean if we don't set up the extreme displacement stress range load case, then my allowable is not calculated correctly ?

Thanks

CAESAR II v.7.00 includes a modification to the default "load case template" (used to recommend load cases). The extreme range should be recommended by this version.

The "stress range reduction" factor is computed based on the number of cycles. This (number of cycles) is an input value.
