I am modeling a multi-core plate fin heat exchanger with a manifold system. My goal is to model all eight manifolds in one model. In order to accomplish this I have all manifolds modeled and attached to one another via a series of weightless rigid elements. Will this work? The problem I see arising is that the the rigid elements will affect my analysis by not allowing the nozzle displacements.

If this is not an acceptable model, is there way to include all of these manifolds into one model? If not, I assume that the only way to accomplish this analysis is to create a separate model for each manifold system and analyze them individually?

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you,
-Drew

Yes, those rigid elements may affect your results.

CAESAR II allows unconnected piping. By default, each subsystem (defined by unique sets of node numbers) will share the same origin (0,0,0). The analysis will be fine but the plot will be disorienting. You can use the global coordinates tool (also listed in the Edit Menu item) to reset the plot location of the starting point of each subsystem.

Thank you Dave. That answered my question. I was unaware that I was able to change the global coordinates of elements.
