Hello everybody ,

I am new to piping stress . In our company , vertical negative allowable loads of resting shoe are not clearly defined . So , what is followed that , unless and until if there is no loads exceeding 10 KN for size 8 inch and above , load is considered to be within limits . My query is that what is the basis of calculating vertical allowable loads if it is negative as well as for guide and limits. This is query is for clamped supports .

Local stress limitation would be a good place to start.
