Hi everyone,
I have a question here:What is the difference between SUS1=W1+D1+P1 and OPE1=W1+D1+P1? I experimented with a simple model, but the same result.
And what about EXP1=OPE2-OPE1 and EXP2=OPE2-SUS1 where OPE2=W1+D1+P1+T1.

Best Regards

jackzwt,

You might want to read CAESAR II User guide, Static anlysis, Building static load cases.
FYI, your 'OPE1' load case needs Temperature. You ought to put T1 or so.

Thank you for your reply.
BUT,why cii allows users to create the case(OPE=W+D1+P1) without warning?Has it a special intention?

Because W+D1+P1 is an operating case at ambient (installation) temperature.

The OPE case is needed for:
- maximum displacements (did the pipe fall off my supports)
- maximum restraint loads (to give to the Strucutral group)
- as a component of the EXP range determination

For your typical B31.1/B31.3 type Codes, the OPE case is not a "Code Compliance" case.
