Dear Sir
We are performing design calculation under PV Eliet 2012 R1 as per ASME SEC VIII Div-1. one of nozzle is falling in large opening as per code & same shall be designed as per App. 1-7/1-10 of Div-1. However, PV Elite is not considering Large opening & performing calculation as per UG-37, which we feel not correct. Can you please resolve this query.

Pl find an attachment of file. file extention is change from rar to zip. hence, please change extention to .rar to open. All three PV Elite 2012 files are uploaded herewith.
Looking forward for co-operation.

Hi vishaltailor,

Go to the 'Load cases' tab and check the box 'Use Appendix 1-10 instead of UG-37'.

If the issue persists I would suggest that you submit a support request with your dealer or through our eCustomer support website.

Dear Luis Sanjuan
Thank you for your prompt reply.

I had already tried with that check box. but problem was not solved. Further, Codecalc is performing large opening calculation. i think there is error in PVELite.

Dear Sir,

For Nozzle M1 (ID 610 self reinforced nozzle) in attached report by you, is located on an ellipsoidal dished head.

Why are you considering appendix 1-10 requirements?

Dear asd23789
You are right that code doesn't ask for large opening in d'end. But, i can't put conical section. Then what shall be alteranative solution.
Accept as it is?

Dear Sir,

providing of conical section is an alternative provided by ASME.

Reproducing paragraph from sec. VIII division-01

" (2) Properly reinforced openings in formed heads and
spherical shells are not limited in size. For an opening in
an end closure, which is larger than one-half the inside
diameter of the shell, one of the following alternatives to
reinforcement may also be used:"

From above, I infer that it is not mandatory to use the alternative suggested by Code.
