Dear Friends,

In Caesar II structural module I have observed that when we have frame composed of C-Channel section where the shear center is offset from the load application point Caesar II does not give us the Torsional moment developed due to this offset. Hence, shear stress developed in the member due to Torsion is not captured which is significant in many cases. After going through the help I have observed that it is possible to specify only the orientation of the member. I would also like to point that if we define a user defined section with all properties it considers the member as a Box section and hence, I feel we cannot capture the torisonal moment developed for any user defined section as the Neutral axis and Shear center will always coincide based on the input of Box height and width.

It is possible to calculate by doing local check for each member manually for simple beams but when we have a frame composed of many members such a calculation is difficult.

Please advise as to what can be done.

I think you can use some rigid without weight elements (in piping input) equal to the offset.

I have one question regarding modal analysis?

While performing modal analysis I can able to see frequency only by graphics images.

Is there any way to find out the frequency for a particular node or frequency at each and every nodes in modal analysis?

Please do not hijack this thread. A new topic should begin with a new thread. (Individual nodes do not have "natural frequencies"; systems do.)

Hi Dan,

I tried with specifying the load offset from the beam neutral axis. I am able to get the torsional moment but would have preferred if the option for same was there in structural module.

Thanks and Regards

I guess that you may try to specify an user section very thin but very rigid.
