Dear All,

As per client specification, we followed load cases. The load case are
1 (OPE) W+T1+P1
2 (OPE) W+T2+P1
3 (OCC) W+T1+P1+F1
4 (SUS) W+P1
5 (HYD) WW+HP
6 (SUS) U1
7 (SUS) U2
8 (SUS) U3
9 (SUS) WIN1
10 (SUS) WIN2
11 (OPE) L11=L1+L6+L8+L9 ALG
12 (OPE) L12=L1-L6+L8-L9 ALG
13 (OPE) L13=L1+L7+L8+L10 ALG
14 (OPE) L14=L1-L7+L8-L10 ALG

we have to qualify the nozzle load for Case 11 to 14, One of the Nozzle load are exceed the allowable limit in case 14.

My question;
The above load case combination are accepted or not. My nozzle load are exceed the U2 in y direction.

Note;
Pipe Size 6"#150.
Design temp: 449 deg F
Design pr : 50.8 psig

shall we give a load to vendor to qualify.

Should to be like this (if your system is non-linear):

11 (OPE) W+T1+P1+U1+U2+WIN1
12 (OPE) W+T1+P1-U1+U2-WIN1
13 (OPE) W+T1+P1+U2+U3+WIN2
13 (OPE) W+T1+P1+U2-U3-WIN2

Hi ,

Please find the some basics about load cases.take the help from your senior pipe stress enginner from you company.

I am very sorry to say you can't ask these basics questions regarding "submit nozzle loads to vendor..." Follow the company procedures...

Hi Kumar,

Thanks for your information.

i have little confusion on load cases. In system, Nozzel load qualify for Temperature case. It will exceed the combination of case 14.

Dear Danb,

In above load case, is based on clinet specification and Z dir shall be in Veritcal direction. As of my understanding, your load case for Y is in vertical direction.

Can be also Z vertical if U2 is vertical.

Like Danb said, you have to be careful if your are using linear or non-linear restraints.
