Hi All,

In FPSO Project, we considered on three acceleration value like HEAVE, surge and sway. why we not considered rotational acceleration like pitch, roll and yaw? can someone please explain in details.

Dear Shabeer,

I believe Heave, Surge & Sway are linear motions and Pitch, Roll & Yaw are rotations. The acceleration values which we considers in the analysis are an outcome of the above linear motion and rotations.

Please correct if I am wrong.

Hi Dan,

How we considered the outcome of the above linear motion and Rotation. Is there any procedure to calculate the value of Acceleration.

Convert your angular rotation with respect to time into a linear acceleration. Hint: use the distance between the center of rotation and your pipe.

Your structural dept. will give you the accelerations, it will be available in their design basis.
