You need to activate a setting for compressing all files to ".C 2" file. Open CAESAR II and select Tools->Configure/Setup, click on Miscellaneous Options, and change the Compress CAESAR II Files to FALSE and save it. Then open it again and change it back to TRUE and save it again. Then open one of the ._A files by changing the Files of Type to Pre-5.00(*._A) in the File->Open dialog, go to input, and close the input. The file should now compress into the ".c 2" archive.

you need to close the program completely (no Caesar window to remain open) & then the files are ". C 2".

Strange but it is what it is?

Rich, Can you take please care of this too in your service pack alongwith the "company.txt" thing which now appears on the Caesar main box!!!

Take care of what?

Look, CAESAR II is a collection of program modules - it is not one giant monolithic blob. Depending on where you are, sometimes you want the job files compressed, sometimes you don't. There are a number of posts on this subject that you can find using the [Search], but to summarize:

1) When you're working on a given job, those files are uncompressed.
2) The only time a job's files are compressed is when you
---- a) switch jobs, or
---- b) close CAESAR II completely

The reasoning for this is that when you're sitting on the Main Menu, we have no idea what you want to do with the job next. Why would you want it compressed, only to have the software decompress it on the next action?

If you don't like "company.txt", edit that file and put your company name there - that is what it's for.
