Hellow Gents,

Well , I am new in this forum.
Actually, when doing the caesar II seminar training job (task 1)
I did not found the same results with the ones stated in the seminar tutor pdf.
In fact, according to the tutor , the max sustained stress should be at node 30 (the same for me) but with a value 11 percent of the allowable on the branch run of the tee.
So, please check the file attached and I need your valuable comments.

Recheck your temperature value, I think you want 315 instead of 31.

Well , actually I changed the temperature to 315 but the same applies. For the maximum sustained stress it should be 11 percent of the allowable on the branch run of the tee at node 30, for my case it is 59.2% at node 30.
Besides, it said for me code stress failed for the expansion stress ( normally beceause of the high temperature 315 celcius) .

Furthermore, I think the high value of stress for my case is mainly due to the 2 inch by-pass, as in the tees we have 2 inch * 8 inch.

Concerning the job task, you will find attached the job changed, as well as the seminar job desciprtion.

Please check with me , maybe there is an error in the seminair job tasks.

Actually, I am really interested to get a correct model in the first task because I cannot progress while the results are wrong.

Please review the write up you have.
When I looked at your earlier model (T1=31.5), you did not have the hanger nor the two other supports.
I don't believe your model is at a state where you can ask others to comment - a model with obvious flaws that you should fix (first).

Okey, that's true what you said. Actually, i fixed that in the last attached file but I again got a difference between what should I have and what I actually have as results. So , could you please check with me.

Actually, I changed the file and now I have a 14.2% allowable code stress ratio at node 30(according to the seminar results it should be 11% at node 30)
I am near now , but there is yet something wrong .
Could u recheck again with me.

I think I found something of interest.
Actually, when I looked into the seminar task of 2007 , I got good results:
(you will find enclosed the tutor + the caesar II file).
I got 17.1% of code stress ratio for sustained load (coherent with tutor results)
But, I got 114% of maximum stress to allowable ratio for expansion case , instead of the speicfied 116%.
The difference is due to the way of modelling thermal growth of discharge nozzle (node 10) . The tutor said that there is two approaches :
1/ calculate thermal growth of discharge nozzle by setting displacement value at node 10 (0,1.92,1.15,0,0,0)
2/ add a construction element between nozzle node and pump base point (see tutor pdf page 14)
My problem is that I don't know how to use the second approach. Could you help me ?
