I am doing the stress analysis on roped bend. Piping routing is horizontal. Bending stress I have calculated based on M = EI/R. I know the radius of curvature. Calculated bending stress, I believe, we need to add it in operating or expansion bending stress, not in sustained bending stress.

Basis of consideration:"ROPING WILL BE DONE BY IMPOSING THE FORCE TO FORM A DISPLACEMENT AND IT IS LIMITING COMPONENT. "

I want to know wheather above my statement and calculation methodalogy is correct.

Does Anyone have a good material/Guidelines on Roped piping to calculate Stresses due to roping.

Roping Means at site on straight pipe by applying the external froce, pipe will be bend as per routing requirement. Generally radius of this bend is higher than 200D. This kind of arrangement is done in long run pipeline. It will avoid the cost of bend .

My query how one can resolve this problem in Caesar? Is there any guideline or experties view on this?

Thanks in advance.

Since you are dealing with a continuously supported pipe, it will not be easy to model in Caesar. You could fiddle around with lots of discreet supports, or you might try using the buried pipe modeller with values that control lateral resistance etc., set to near zero.

This is not a continuosly supporting pipe. It is a above ground long distance running pipe. (Run is aprx 1.5 km, roping length is 300 m. Support spacing 5 m., Pipe size is 34", Pipe schedule is 9.525 mm.

Does someone is having experiance in resolving in caesarII?
