I have a client who has pipe clamps welded to the steel supports. Please see the attached pic.

I'd like to hear some opinions on how to model this in Caesar. I don't believe it should be a true limit restraint in most applications, but might be one in this certain application.

8 Inch SA312 304 piping SCH 10S
Air Line < 15 psig @ <100 deg F (Ambient, non insulated)
Anvil Fig 212 CS Clamp which client says they have a rubber in between pipe and clamp.

Option 1:
---------
Vertical and Guide Restraints with relatively high coefficient of friction

Option 2:
---------
Vertical and Guide Restraints, Limit Restraints with relatively high stiffness.

Opinions greatly appreciated.

WIth 100 deg F and 15 psi, are you sure that stress analysis is necessary ?

If so, I would use option 1 as the most realistic model. If you selected option 2 you may be challenged about the limit clearance etc. which will always be a bit subjective.

Thanks MoverZ,

I didn't think a formal analysis was necessary for this system either, but our client just wants to make sure as they are changing the system from aluminum to ss, and want to be conservative and ensure that their system will have no issues.

But thought I'd ask about the modeling method as they may apply to other systems.
