Referencing B31.1, Table D-1 in Appendix D I calculate that a reinforced fabricated tee where the header is NPS36 thickness 1/2" and Branch is NPS10 thickness 0.365" has a header SIF of 5.72 when using a 3/8" thick reinforcing pad.
The scratchpad for CAESAR using a type "2" reinforced fabricated tee with a 3/8" pad thickness calculates a 9.487 branch connection. Is this an error in Caesar or is it calculating differently?
I used a 3rd source (FE-SIF) which calculates even slightly lower header SIF than B31.1 (4.17).
Thank you for your response, I actually had been using the type 1 reinforced but had thought reinforced was 2 when I wrote the thread, however this issue has been resolved.
When I opened the calc to check the SIF i did not realize the calc had been run in metric so in the scratch pad when I added a 0.375 pad it needed to be a 9.525MM pad to match the calc.
