Hi,

just a quick question in regards to Cadworx plant 2013 which I have just installed. I know there is a feature for enhanced 3d for presentation purposes and I have found this switch in the config area, but it does not seem to do anything to any of the legacy specs that I brought in from 2012. I assume that this is due to different parametric cad files in 2013. Does anyone know how to set up enhanced 3d for legacy data?

If you imported legacy specs chances are you have omitted to create schedule and thickness tables.

The CEE commands needs this info to show the pipes and elbows as hollow.

Hi Vanman,

Yeah your correct I did not input the info. Is there a way to do so after I have imported the specs or can I only do this as part of the import?

Also I am just starting to use the new version and have noticed that the items created in the 2012 version comes in as read only, meaning I cant adjust anything in the cedit command???

And lastly is there a way to maintain the specs that I use in a project, so I don't have to load them on every new drawing I start??

Any help would be great, as I'm in the middle of a project that is running out of time and I had to upgrade due to company policy, and now I have wasted so much time.

Hi again,

I am assuming that due to no inforamtion on this, that no-one knows what I can do to fix these problems?

I also noticed another issue when trying to place a new valve using the imported specs that the topworks do not work either.

I really wish I knew about this prior to the upgrade as I would not have do so until a new project started.

Any help?

You can add additional Thickness a Schedule tables after you have imported legacy specs with no issue.

In the PRJ file for the spec in the properties palette there will be a schedule assignment button that you can use to assign certain schedules to certain line sizes.

You can also edit individual components to have specific schedule information.

Not sure what you mean by 'maintain' specs. You can set a default PRJ file for every new drawing in the CFG file though if this is what you are asking.

RE the topworks, it depends if you imported the topworks files also with the legacy spec import, it has an option to path the legacy topworks files.

I have imported custom topworks files from legacy specs before without issues. It works. I suspect you are doing something incorrectly with the import process.

Unfortunately, I do not believe that the PRJ file can be 'defaulted'. It is saved in the drawing.

A work around for this is to set up a template for the project that has the PRJ file already selected.

Rod, You can set a default project from the CFG file that will load with every new drawing.

Thanks Van,

I found that just after I posted. I guess I forgot to edit my post. My bad.

Hello,

For some I can not get the enhanced 3d function to work. We imported legacy specs from 2010. I am specifically trying to get the bolt holes in the flanges to be represented in the 3d model.

You need to add the bolt hole information in the imported specs. When you import6 legacy, all you get is the bare essentials.
