Hi all,

Could some help me in calculating Allowable stress according to BS7159.
Because i read in BS7159 Ch.4.3.1, allowable stress (design stress) calculated as Design strain times Modulus of elasticity. As what i know FRP material have axial modulus and hoop modulus elasticity. Which one should i use to calculate allowable stress?

thanks

The value you have to enter into CAESAR II is the axial allowable stress. Entering the Eh/El value will let CAESAR II calculate the allowable hoop stress.
If you use the E and strain values from BS7159, it will give you very low allowable stress. It is better to use vendor data.
