One of my engineers is verifying a design that has nozzles in a bolted flat head. He has modeled it as a welded flat and inserted the nozzles, but PVElite is not performing a fatigue for nozzles in the flat head. This particular vessel is a 61" diameter sphere with a 16" manway opening that we have modeled as a nozzle. In order to insert nozzles, we have had perform a separate analysis that assumes the vessel is a cylinder and put the welded flat head on it using the dimensions of the nozzle neck as the vessel shell dimensions. Anyway, just wondering if PVElite does not perform fatigue on nozzles in flat heads and why?
