I had installed CAESAR II ver.4.50 on my machine when I was having win xp sp1. I am using a white lock. Today when I upgraded my win xp to sp2, everytime thereafter that I am attempting to run CAESAR II, it overlookes the white lock (says that local ESL not found)and searches for ESL on the local network and exhibits "FATAL ERROR# 5319".

Uninstall the HASP driver, then reinstall the HASP driver. There are no issues between the HASP and XP Pro Service Pack 2.

The easiest thing to do is open up a DOS Box or Command Window, so you can issue the necessary commands. Do this ...

1) From [Start\Run], type "CMD [Enter]".
2) In the resulting DOS box ...

3) Navigate to \caesar\assidrv. So if you have installed CAESAR II on "drive D", in a directory named "\caesar 450", then you would ...

a) Enter 'D: [Enter]'
b) Enter 'cd "\caesar 450\assidrv" [Enter]'
(You need the double quotes because the pathname includes spaces.)

4) Once in the "Assidrv" directory issue the command to uninstall the HASP driver ...

"hinstall -r [Enter]"

5) Then, issue the command to install the driver ...

"hinstall -i [Enter]"

In both steps 4 and 5, you should receive messages that the action was successfull.

Thank you very much, Sir. Your way of instructing is very lucid.
After following the steps I have got two errors:

1.Failed to start the Aladdin Device Driver
2.Failed to start service in the Service Control Manager Database0x2008007 0x20007 0x0

What to do now, Sir?

If you can't start the Aladdin software, our application won't run.

Do you have "Administrator Rights"? If not, hunt up an IT person and have them address the driver issue.

If you do have "Administrator Rights", then there is something amiss with your machine. Run this diagnostic program (\caesar\assidrv\haspdiag\aksdiag.exe), and e-mail me the log (txt) file created. I'll have to send this off to Aladdin and ask their advice.

Since I don't have adinistrative rights over the machine, I did hunt for an IT guy. But even he failed to do anything.
I have extracted the text files for both HASP and Hardlock mode, and have sent them to you by mail.

Here is the response from Aladdin, after reviewing your information ...

A new case number 162137 was opened for you.

Regarding your questions:

I have reviewed the attachment as well as the thread on your message board. The error message described is representative of one of Aladdin's older device driver being used on the Windows XP Service Pack 2 operating system. Version 4.99 of the HASP device driver should resolve this customer's issue. Are they using this version ?

HASP device driver v4.99 (GUI): ftp://ftp.aladdin.com/pub/hasp/new_releases/driver/HASP4_driver_setup.zip
HASP device driver v4.99 (command line): ftp://ftp.aladdin.com/pub/hasp/new_releases/driver/HASP4_driver_cmdline.zip

Please download and install their latest drive and see if that resolves the issue.

To Alladin member(s) and Mr.Ay,
Thank you. It is working fine for the last two days that I've updated the driver.
But as a doubt I would like to ask whether driver updation is also a part of the 'builds' that COADE keeps releasing?
