Dear all,

One more time I got some doubts in stress analysis and hope you can help me again.

Usually, I created some cases for analysis that is:

• an operational case (full case W+P+T);
• an assembly case (no contents and exposed to sun WNC+T);
• and other cases, mainly occasional loads.

I'm in doubt if this “assembly case” is a common practice in stress analysis. I consider as temperature for exposition to sun about 70°C. This may causes a lot of problem due a high displacement of pipeline and as consequence, rotation of nozzles. Do you use some kind of case like this?

Can you help me again?

Regards,

Miyamoto

I sometimes use these kind of load cases, depending on the system I'm analyzing. Especially for large diameter pipe (where pipe weight is just a fraction of total filled weight) at moderate design temperature this can be required. You have to check yourself if it is necessary for each piping system.
