Dear Seniors,
I was just trying to see that what happens when we anchor a 100 feet long straight pipe of 4in dia at both ends. I raised its temperature to 600F. In my opionion at given temperature pipe should expand and as I have anchor both ends it should be compressed along its length. I checked it for code check pass and it just failed in sustained case which was solved by adding few more supports. Code stress check is passed and there is no code stress in case of expansion. the only unwanted result is higher force in axis of pipe on anchor points.
Should I conclude failure of piping system only due to termincal anchor point load?
Why there was not any code stress value in expansion case? is this due to reason that I have anchor the ends and there is no space to more?
I have also tried to give some displacement but still there was no value.
I am using Caesar demo version? Is this due to demo?
Then in introduced a bend at one end and a small length of pipe and then I checked for code stress. This time system failed in expansion case also.
I couldnot understand why Cesar give no code stress value in straight pipe with both ends anchor?
Can any body explain this
