Search the net for Americal Lifelines Alliance - Buried Steel Pipe. Also there is an article by Mr. Peng on the net for buried piping.
Read CAESAR II documentation as well!

u are right, we cant change the properties of soil
But i have not done buried piping so dont know the checks to be carried out!
