Dear all,

I modeled 96 inch with 96inch reinforced equal tee with pad,

Normally assumed 2D width for reinforcement pad, as per standard AWWA c208 tee Total length is 3232mm, So tee welding overlapping with reinforcement length,

My TEE is flanged tee, so flushing the weld is not possible.

So based on my internal pressure & temp ,I calculated 1.2D As per Reinforcement calculation ASME B31.3 code .

Can you suggest my assumption 1.2D is correct???

I'm assuming you mean pad diameter = 1.2 D = 115in, so you have a re-pad width of around 9.5 in. from the branch wall ? Seems a bit thin, but if you are providing the required reinforcement area within the Code prescribed limits, it should be acceptable.

Dear MoverZ,

Thanks for replying my post, your assumption is correct.

I searched in codes for pipe size is 96", Large bore size doesn't cover in codes.

My question is for the below criteria, the TEE with pad width 1.2D can be withstand or not?? (According to stress analysis by ceasar II the tee is passed...)

Pressure 16 bar
material API 5L Gr.X52 PSL 2
Temp 60 deg c
Thick 1 inch
Medium water

You must do the reinforcement calc yourself, to whatever Code you are using. Caesar II does not check these local details.

I have made a quick check assuming allowable stress of 138MPa, 12.5% tolerance and 1.6mm corrosion allowance, calculated to ASME B31.3 rules. Results show that for 25.4mm ring, the diameter must be approx 3100mm (122") minimum.

DEPENDS UPON YOUR CLIENT SPEC.

REFER SPEC FIRST IF THEY DID'T PROVIDE.

THEN CHECK IN INTERNET.

Vijay2015,

You have added to this thread approaching three years after the most recent post. Also, your comment does not make much sense to me.

Are you a bit short of work in the office ?
