Hi,

I need suggestion on stress analysis criteria for ductile iron piping system.

The piping details are
Centrifugally cast ANSI-21.51
Threaded flanges
Line size= 26"
Temp= 70 degree cels
Fluid medium= Sulphuric acid 98%

We never handled ductile iron system in CAESAR-II before so your valuable guidance will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Regards
Rajeev

Rajeev,
There is the post from N. Venkat started on Jul 31 2005 with other responses Aug 3 2005 regarding stress analysis of flanged ductile iron piping.
Yes, the ductile iron system can be analyzed, but the 26" ductile iron has different dimensions than carbon steel pipe and fittings. Material properties of A-395 ductile iron could be used for the pipe. The fittings would be sand cast material to A-536 with its wall thickness and bend radius. And then there are the flanged joints with weight and SIF at each spool length. Remember to use specific gravity for 98% acid.
