Would anyone illustrate as to how we should deal with the case, shown in the subject of this post? Since there is method described for working out flexibilities when nozzles exist on shell, and it is logical because shell wall is easily modeled as pipe carrying pressure and temperature, however, apparently so can't be done for head therefore it looks like posing some confusion.

Cylindrical shell flexibility is determined from WRC 107 or WRC 297. To my knowledge there is no similar published work covering flexibility of nozzles on such as spherical, torispherical or elliptical heads, which I guess is what you are after. However you can easily obtain flex values for these from PRG's FE-Pipe.

If you are interested in flat head flexibility then look at Roark.

PD 5500 covers spherical heads, whihc you can use to approximate an ellipsoidal head.
