Dear Friends,

I am doing stress analysis for a pipe line usign ASME 31.4 design code. While executing the model i observed some errors. Error states that the Temperature (135 c) is outside the allowable range for this material but when i decrease the tempreature to (100 c) there was no error. I tried for another pipe line model with same material and operating parameters (135 c) and different diameter and i found no errors.

The pipe Material is API 5L Gr. B. I also have attached the error file. Plz advice me.

Thanks.

I would guess that B31.4 does not supply either the coefficient of expansion or yield stress above 100C.

You can edit the material database to see.

You can edit the database or you can provide the missing data explicitly.

As i already mentioned that we tried for another line using the same code ASME B31.4 with the same design temperature of 135 deg celcius and same pipe material API 5L Gr.B, for that case it is normal, we dont find any error.

Please clarify...

Send the model in to techsupport@coade.com so they can look at it.

Has this issue been resolved? If so: which are the trouble shooting steps you suggest one undertakes in order to correct this problem?
I am currently experiencing a similar problem, due to using different codes for different materials (client request).

Verify the material data in the material database for the combination of: your piping code(s), your temperature(s), and your material(s). If anything is out of range, you will have problems.

If you can't figure it out, open an SR (support request) on eCustomer so Technical Support can review the details of the situation.
