Dear Stress Members,

1. In order to model the FRP Coupling joints in Caesar II, Using Expansion Joint method/ restraint method as per the reference guide can be applicable. Pls correct if I am wrong.

2. My Query is, How would we model the GRE Pipes with Adhesive bonded/Mech.Bell& Spigot joints in Caesar II. Kindly guide me.

3. When we model GRP pipes in Caesar II, Is there any stingent to consider the (pipe to pipe lamination joint) in the modelling.
I thought without considering the lamination joints, would lead to conservative analysis. Kindly confirm..

Thanks
GRP & GRE is the future pipe

1. Expansion Joint / Restraint Method? Please provide a page number and document title.
2. Check with the piping code you are using. it would probably indicate different allowable stress criteria or maybe just a stress intensification factor. I do not believe the code would offer a different stiffness model for the joint. As I understand things (and I am not a GRP expert) teh joints are constructed to be stronger than pipe itself.
3. Again, consult the piping code you are using.

Dear Mr.Dave and CII members,

1. CII Application guide Chapter 6_Misc Models, Page 3 Ball Joints

2.Piping Code is ISO14692. These GRE pipe joints is similar to Cast iron/ DI pipe jointing system. So, Can you confirm me, whether I can follow as per document "APR 91" Page No 11. " Modelling Slip joints". Kindly clarify.

Thanks and regards

Dear Satpip

I guess you are taking about socket type joint with adhesive.

It's a normal pipe joint. Do not act like slip joint or bellow.

You may have to use SIF value on the joint.

Dear Shr

Thank u for your kind reply.

Yes,Of Course, the pipe joint is of Socket/spigot type
which is similar to CI/DI Pipe joints.

Myself if GRP/GRV pipe joints. Shall I follow the
SIF value of fittings for these pipes too.

If it so, pls confirm that the procedure of putting
SIF value as similar to the Tee joint. (Using SIF icon)

Thanks and best regards

Dear Satpip

Ask vendor for SIF or follow the respective code for SIF.

create node no at bend location. Put manually sif value to that node for both incoming & outgoing spread sheet for that node.

Like node 10 to node 20, put sif at node 20 ( node 20 is the joint)
other piece node 20 to node 30 , put sif at node 20
