hallo everyone,
Can anybody tell me the procedure regarding the modelling of spring support with friction. Below is the detail I am using:
Pipe OD = 108mm
Thickness = 20mm
Insulation thickness = 130mm
Temp.= 540 C
Pressure = 162.3 kg/cm2
Material = A335 Gr P22
Kindly tell me the steps to draw the spring support along with friction. I am using caesar-II version 5.2.
And also tell me at which conditions I will be using spring support along with friction.

Thanks and regards,
Peterson

Peterson,

Refer Caesar Application Guide Chapter 4.

Hope this helps or revert if you still have query.

Further , for the second part of your query:

As a general practice, if the lateral/axial displacements exceed 1/4" , then we should model it with friction.Definitely for such springs near strain sensitive equipments.

But again its applicability depends on the engineer's jursidiction.

Keep smiling,

It always helps.

Dear Peterson,
You can also check with spring manufacturer for exact lateral gap.
It is prudent to consider spring friction at the vicinity of equipments.

Dear all,
I know how to calculate the loop length. but I dont know how can I calculate the number of loops I have to make in a particular line?
For example I have one line of size 12 inches and the line is running straight near to about 1200 meters. Temperature is 525 degree C. I want to calculate how many total loops I have to make for this particular line.
I need to know is there any formula aur any calculation for this.

Thanks and regards,
Peterson.

Use "search" funtion (loop), there are a lot of posts regarding the subject.
