Dear All,

Application of flange leakage/stress calculations should be
done in the location of equipment/nozzle flange only?
or We have to check all the connecting flanges of valve in the piping other than equipment/nozzle flange?

Please share your experience...

For conservative approach check the flange leakage for all flanges. If you are technically sound and a good judgement person, check the flange leakage for the cases you suspect such as flanges in the mid-span, bends/elbows, control valve, PSV, big-size valve, high pressure etc.

Flange checking is a code requirement.

"310 GENERAL
Piping joints shall be selected to suit the piping material
and the fluid service, with consideration of joint
tightness and mechanical strength under expected service
and test conditions of pressure, temperature, and
external loading."

If in reality these are checked or not, this is another story.

I too have personally seen many engineers overseeing this flange check !!!
