I have a vertical vessel with 4 header rings in a system I need to stress. I've managed to bring the vessel and nozzles in from PDMS along with the piping systems to be analyzed through the generic neutral file interface. The vessel and nozzles are modled as piping. Questions:

1. How do I get the forces at the nozzle/piping interface?

2. We have vessel mounted hangers supporting some of the header rings (see attached png). Can I simply use a cnode on each hanger that is at the vesel ceneterline (elevation same as top of the hanger), or do I need a rgid element from the center of the vessel to the top of each hanger?

The solution for your query is available in Caesar-II Application Guide.

So:

1. Center line of vessel to vessel surface at nozzle is rigid w/ no weight
(dia and thk same as vessel).

2. Surface to back of nozzle flange is actual dia & thk. This is also
the nozzle element.

3. Flange is actual dimensions & rigid w/weight.

For the hanger question, the guide seems to suggest a rigid element between the vessel centerline and the top of the hanger.

Thanks for the always useful, "Check the Documentation Dummy" smile
