Dear All,

Earthquake static analysis to be done for some pipes. Client specified seismology as per IS 1893 part 1 -2002(Zone III).

Have query on that....

As per IS 1893 part 1 -2002(zone III), Ah(design horizontal seismic coefficient (from 6.4.2)) can be calculated.
Is this Ah value can be entered for Uniform loads Gx,Gy,Gz in CAESAR II.

Can you please clarify whether Ah is the one to fed for g's in CAESAR II.

Yes. You can calculate Ah from the tabulated values of the code. The same value can be used for both horizontals and 0.666times this for vertical. Pl. be cautious about units. CAESAR II requires that it be given as g's and Sa/g is also in g's. There should be no confusion.
