Anyone else having frequent crashes when trying to use graphic output? This was not happening before we upgraded to 5.3.

Beta Users are invited. We e-mail all users asking for volunteers. We then (after verification) send them the software with details as to what has changed. We are looking for extended usage on a variety of platforms, using procedures we typically do not use in house. The goal is to get as much coverage as possible. We are open to suggestions as to how to improve this process.

Any time there is a graphics issue, the first thing to try is to reset the graphics driver - change it from OPENGL to "Windows basic". You can do this in the Configuration Module.

I think that a sort of "check list" to be developed and transmited to the Beta Users as mandatory.

For example "Did you check the functionality of WRC 107 module in both english and SI units?"
Or "Did you check the functionality of graphic output".

And they need to send you also a list of the OS, Processor, hardware and so on.

Regards,

I was so glad when i got 5.3 installed . The static output warnings (in the load cases) are fantastic giving us an instant preliminary judgement about the calc. But the only thing that is downside to the new version,in my opinion, is the graphic frame rate. It takes time to open the input file and 3Dplot especially when you just open the the caesar program or even when you are already from the static output and you want to go back to input file.

There is also an indication of dropouts (hidden line showing) of the graphic model before it can successfully display the whole system when opening the Caesar file. I am not an IT and i dont know if i can adjust the frame rate to avoid the sluggish display.
By the way if you are already from the input file, then you want to another model its perfectly
fine.

Comparison of 5.1 and 5.3 ver.

I tried to open the same file with the comparison of 5.1 and 5.3.
It takes less than 5 seconds for 5.1 to arrive in the full display of 3d plot while it takes more than 10 seconds for the latest version. The file that i opened contains about 5 elements.

I have done the instructions of Richard regarding the OPENGL and Windows Basic.

Thanks, Richard. That seems to be working. I can't say enough how pleased I am to be working with Caesar again. They forced us to change to AutoPipe at my last job, so I quit. Just kidding! I did quit, but not just because of that. I'm very happy my new company uses Caesar, though.
