B31.3 allows you to consider them seperately. After all, it is unlikely you will have a hurricane and an earthquake on the same day.

Okay. I have a structural background, so not doing a combination seems weird.

I come across this post when searching some info on wind load and seismic load act on piping.

Recently in Japan, earthquake and tsunami is coming in the same time. Which this is also consider a rare case I suppose.

With such situation, is that means we may have the possibility to consider wind and seismic combination as per egcallis?

Yes it is. You can consider it as act simultaneously. But ASME B31.3 not recomended it. Only if you think you need to do this based on your site condition, than thats ok. WE are also doing that for our Project now that is the First LNG plant using Modular approach for consruction.
