Dear All.

I am performing Stress Analysis of piping systems based on B-31.3. I have to do a blast analysis and my allowable is 1.5 Sy .Sy is Yield Stress of pipe material .

The piping system design temperature is 150 degree c
Can I directly consider the yield stress of material mentioned in B31.3 Appendix A or do I have to calcualte the Yield stress of the material at 150 deg c

Your allowable is so far in excess of yield that you must be around or above UTS. Since the pipe is unlikely to be there after your blast event, why bother doing an analysis ?

Some lines will have to maintain structural integrity (e.g. fire water or hydrocarbon lines). 1.5Sy is quite high but in event that is accepted is reasonable to be at temperature.
