Dear All,
i would like to ask your opinion about this topic.
Is it the right way to modelling coonection to pump as attachment 2 and 3, where the flange is as anchor and it cnode to rigid pump and then anchor again at the base?
My experience before this are like this way:
1. In Preliminary before vendor give complete data, ussualy we will modelling only until the flange and stop there and give it as anchor with predefined displacement (by calculated the pipe expansion relatif to the pump nozzle).
2. The second way, when vendor data has exist (ussualy vendor give the point of anchor in the pump vendor drawing), then we modelling it like usual where after the flange connection continue with rigid element and then anchor in the anchor point as agreed with vendor.
So there is no anchor in the flange, because for pump we usually don't need the Nozzle flexibility like vessel nozzle or tank nozzle. In case it is a vessel or a storage tank, i think then it is the right way to modelling it by anchoring at flange with Cnode continue with rigid weight as vessel/tank body and then anchor it again at the base.
That is only my opinion with the case as give in the attachment where it is unusual to me.
I would like to hear another opinion on this please......
Thanks

You have to know the forces and moments at pump flange face, therefore you should place an anchor with cnode in order to be able to read them.
