Dear all

I have a query regarding the weight of the valve in buried piping. When I converted the unburied piping the pipe densities is automatically set to zero since the weight of the pipe is supported along its lenght, but I'm wondering why the weight of the valves are also set to zero as well do I need to input again the valve weight?

Buried pipe is considered to be uniformly (constantly) supported and thus weight is set to zero by the modeller. This will include rigid as well as pipe elements. If you have specific valve supports underground then you might conservatively 'unbury' that element. Or maybe the valve is in a pit and is truly not buried ?

The Block valve is buried, and I need to submit a load to civil group for their foundation design basis where the valve is supported. You mean I need to input again the valve weight? This is what I did, I replaced the vertical soil restaint stiffness generated by Caesar with Y support and input valve weight again..

What can you say?
