I've got query on this new PVelite 2011 version regarding Nozzle Loading..

Suddenly Pvelite consider Stresses on Nozzle due to External and Pressure Loads per the ASME B31.3 Piping Code (see 319.4.4 and 302.3.5)Ya it is very good to check all of this according to piping..
but is it necessary for nozzles on equipment which is normally short comparing with the piping?

Are these para from B31.3 mandatory in designing pressure vessels?

You are quite correct. We included the B31.3 analysis in the 2011 version of PV Elite as a new feature. Unfortunately, there is a small bug in the programme. If you would care to send me an email at techsupport@coade.com, marked for my attention we can send you a hotfix.

We decided to include this new feature, becuase WRC 107 only analyses the stresses in the shell, not the nozzle itself. We thought we should include the stress analysis of the nozzle as well to give a more complete analysis when a nozzle is subjected to external loads.

Right after calculation for Stresses on Nozzle due to External and Pressure Loads per the ASME B31.3 Piping Code, there is statement :

Note : The number of cycles on this nozzle was assumed to be 7000 or less for the determination of the expansion stress allowable.

Are'nt this applicable for Div.2?

This will raise a query on how to determine lifetime for the equipment for 7000 cycle and how to improve to higher number of cycle.

First apply the Service pack ->

From this website, go to Support -> Downloads -> fill in a form (for compliance to the export rules) -> after you click on Submit you will get to the downloads page -> select PV Elite and download the Service pack 2011 SP1.

Then, send an email to support -at- coade.com to request a hot-fix.
