For the large vapour line(36"), the support loads for hydrocase becomes significant. Do we really need to consider hydrocase for permanent support design? Or temporary support can be utilised during hydrotest. Maximum operating loads is calculated 10 ton typically, but two times greater for hydrocase. Pipe line runs above ground by 1 or 2 m, so huge concrete file will be necessary. It will be too conservative design.

Please give me your thought?

Thanks

It is common to use temporary supports for hydrotest. Such supports need to be properly designed and their use must be recorded in operating procedures and on constrruction isometrics, to ensure safety should a hydrotest be required in future.
