Hi,

I have checked the stress analysis of the 36" line. This system requires 4 variation spring support. 3 of them are taken operating and sustained load approx. 70-80 kN. and hydrostatic testing load 70 kN. But the last one is taken operating and WNC load approx. 2 kN. and it is taken the hydrostatic test load approx 35 kN.

I input the spring support by set the operating load as required for all and let it run find out output.

I'm not sure about the output of last spring is correct or not?.

Load case :
1. W+H =>HGR
2. W+T+P+H =>HGR
3. WW+HP =>HYD
4. W+T+P+H =>OPE
5. W+P+H =>SUS
6. WNC+H =>SUS
7. .... EXP....

All spring input are not specified the type of spring selection: Extend range, cold or hot criteria.

My question is
1. Does it possible that the load of spring is very differential between the WNC and Hydrostatic test load (2 kN and 34 kN).
2. Anything wrong?

Please advise.

It is possible to have this situation if 2 kN is manualy inserted.

But think what is the use of a 2 kN spring hanger for a 36" line. (2 kN is the weight of 1 meter 36" pipe) I think that this spring hange is only for a "paper solution"

Hi Piper

Try to minimize no of spring supports in a system. In case you have no choice rather than using spring to carry 2 KN load ( probably reduce nozzle load) use separate temporary pipe support for hydro test, Rather than asking spring vendor to design spring for 2KN operating load & 34 KN hydro-test load.
